Department Profile:
Department of History was established in the year 2002. History as a special subject (UG) was introduced from 2002. In June 2014 Mr. Vishal Pote joined the department as a Head & Asst. Professor. Mr.Somnath Kharat is also working as a supportive staff faculty in the department on temporary basis since 2013. The department has also participated in State, National & International level seminars, and Workshops, Conferences for research purpose. Department has organized various guest lectures and lecture series for UG Students.The department has always paid attention to local history and studied the importance of local history of Kopargaon. As part of study tour the department has always arranged field visits to the local historical places in and around Kopargaon. The faculty members have always contributed their concerns in the adaption of the curriculum of history at University level.

- Provide relevant, up-to-date, and career-oriented education in History.
· To give an impartial view to students toward history.
Aim:
- To enable the students to perceive the concepts like time, place and society.
- To create opportunities for people for acquiring rational knowledge of History.
- To develop the critical outlook towards History.
- To make responsible human resource who can contribute to nation integrity
Objective:
- To acquaint the students with growth of various historical movement that shaped the modern world.
- To help the students to know ancient, medieval & modern period history.
- To increase research culture among the students regarding the needs of local historical perspective.
- To provide the facilities in the courses offered by the department.
